Our property is a living canvas with hay fields, orchards, berry patches, grape vines, and vegetable, herb, and flower gardens as our palette - cultivated to create beauty everywhere you look.
hay fields
Our hay feeds the cows of Clair-A-Den Farm, whose milk goes to Kingdom Creamery for delicious ice cream and other products.
orchards
We have a variety of apple, crabapple, pear, plum, and apricot trees, which provide bountiful blossoms filled with buzzing bees in the spring and ample harvests in the fall. We store, freeze, can, and dehydrate our fruits so we can eat them year-round. What we don’t pick feeds the birds, deer, and other wildlife that forage on the property.
berries
We cultivate a variety of berries including blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, red and black currents, and gooseberries. Prune in the off-season, pick in the summer. Fresh berries are the best but we also make jams, pies, simple syrups, and smoothies!
flower gardens
Planted for colorful blooms from spring to fall that are fragrant, edible, and attract the birds, bees, and butterflies.
in the greenhouse
A warm oasis from March to December, our greenhouse is heated by sunlight to produce delicious greens even when there is snow on the ground and tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and more throughout the summer months.
grapes
Our concord grape vines grow on a cedar arbor, with arches framing the gardens from every angle.
garlic
… just because it is so whimsical, delicious, and good for us. We can all benefit from eating more garlic. Jennifer’s “goliath” garlic has developed quite the reputation and we keep encouraging her to grow more!
